Renovating the loft

Patrick Powers Construction was the initial general contractor that worked on Green Woods Inn in 2002. We had asked our architect to recommend someone who was reliable and familiar with older houses. We were not disappointed. Patrick Powers is knowledgeable and able. So able that the initial renovation of Green Woods Inn was substantially complete in seven weeks - we refer to this time as 'Seven Weeks from Hell' as the whole experience was extreme pressure during which time we (at the time there was Tessa, myself and Gran '86yrs old'- Tessa's Mum) had no place to call home, other than Green Woods Inn. Patrick Powers Construction also helped with some framing of the loft project.

Sometimes we come across a contractor that is exceptional. Ryan's Drywall is just such a company. A local family run firm Ryan's Drywall undertook the complete drywalling of the loft. After meeting 'Mike', the patriarch of the family, we felt so confident that we handed over the keys to the Inn and walked away to return a week or so later with the work complete! Now that's the way to do drywall.........

Mike's Drywall is probably not the cheapest show in town but, in our opinion, worth every penny!

Most of the framework and resilient channel we installed ourselves along with the electrical and the plumbing. However, the loft is old and had many 'out of true' twists and turns and so we asked that Ryan's Drywall look after those difficult angles and try to make things look good.
