"My girlfriend and I stayed here for Valentine's day and it couldn't have felt more right. It was our first stay at a bed and breakfast, so we weren't sure what to expect.

The Dearsleys, even before I booked, were both exceptionally enthusiastic about making the weekend a memorable one for us. Tessa offered great suggestions on how to make the stay romantic, and even went out of her way to arrange flowers to greet my girlfriend when we arrived.

Another key highlight was how carefully prepared the breakfasts were. I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of waking up early on the weekends, but I think you will for this breakfast. The Dearsleys are great cooks and take time in asking you what you prefer (both of us are vegetarians).

Kingston itself is a nice town, and a good escape from Toronto. The Dearsleys ensured that we knew what was happening in the city and offered to book reservations anywhere we wanted to go. The property is located few minutes from the down town, so it's out of the way enough to give you a countryside feel but also close enough for you to get to the city quickly.

Initially, I thought the downside to the property might be that there would be noise issues, considering it's an old house (and we're a young couple on valentine's day) but really, there were none. The rooms are very private, comfortable and clean.

I also had the misguided perception that bed and breakfasts were for old people. And since we're both fresh out of school, we weren't sure if most of the people we'd meet there would be older and unappreciative of us. But really, the people we met, including the Dearsleys, were terrific.

As long as you're respectful (at breakfast and during your stay), others will treat you in kind. I'm not sure why this property isn't more highly rated for young couples, because I think it is a perfect and affordable escape for any age bracket.  Our first stay at a bed and breakfast was something we'll always remember. I know I'll be booking the Green Woods Inn again.
